I have recently heard several sermons at @TheLifeChurchDC about sin and the Garden. Adam and Eve had everything they could ever want – complete freedom! They were created in God’s image and were given dominion over all that God created. There was only one rule – not to eat from the tree of the knowledge of good and evil. A couple things are interesting in this story in Genesis. I once heard a sermon about a concept called Cat and Dog Theology. Self-hatred is something that seems to permeate our society, especially among women. Personally, this is something I have struggled with my entire life. I have really been thinking about this as I seek God’s healing and deliverance from every remnant of self-hatred that has plagued me since childhood. Most self-hatred seems to center around physical appearance and physical beauty. What I am realizing is that that is a very 1-dimensional view.
